The Grass is Greener!

We are all so happy in our beautiful new peaceful yoga space in St. Matthew's Church.

The energy is wonderful and it is so quiet that I have to take the clock off the wall during class because the ticking is too loud!

The room is much bigger and outside is a large grassy yard that is hidden from the road by a row of bushes. Could be perfect for doing yoga outside on warm summer nights! If you've taken a yoga-break I hope you'll come join us this spring.

Weekend Retreats

I just returned from a weekend at the yoga camp in Val-Morin with a group of my students. I know the early wake-up bell is rough, but if you can get past that, these get-aways can fast-forward you along your spiritual path unlike anything else.

Here is an opportunity to leave all your stress in the city, to breathe fresh air, to practice yoga twice daily, to be with like-minded people, to practice meditation and perhaps to catch a glimpse of that feeling of being one with everything.

"Sitting or lying still, in any moment we can reconnect with our body, transcend the body, merge with the breath, with the universe, experience ourselves as whole and folded into larger and larger wholes. A taste of interconnectedness brings deep knowledge of belonging, a sense of being at home wherever we are...

"Knowing our wholeness directly in the meditation practice, we may find ourselves coming to terms with things as they are, a deepening of understanding and compassion, a lessening of anguish and despair."  —Jon Kabat-Zinn

"Ordinary men hate solitude.
But the Master makes use of it,
embracing his aloneness, realizing
he is one with the whole universe."

—Lao-Tzu, Tao-te-Ching

Going Electronic

I am putting a Web site together and the next newsletter will be the last sent by snail mail. From then on all information about upcoming classes, weekend retreats, and our infamous end of session pot-luck dinners will be sent to you by e-mail.

If you'd like to be included on my mailing list simply e-mail me at info@illuminartyoga.com. If you don't have an e-mail address please call and I'd be happy to send you the newsletter by regular mail (514) 890-6059.

My classes grow mostly due to your help through sharing your experience with others. I've enclosed extra flyers for you to share with your friends and co-workers. Thanks for your support!
