Illuminartyoga E-News Season's Greetings! Issue # 5: December 26, 2001

Hope this finds you relaxed and rested after the busy holiday rush.

A Perfect New Space

On November 30th I taught my last class at the Harmonia Center.

After 3 years and 3 months it was finally time to let go of the space: I decided that the energy was too low and the rent was too high. I wanted to stay in the same area as so many of you come from close by. I needed a nice quiet room available Tuesday and Thursday nights and Thursday mornings.

Within a very short time I found a perfect new space, a very large hall in St. Mathew's Anglican church on the corner of Snowdon and Macdonald, 4 blocks west of Decarie.

This is a very peaceful place where we will have lots of room to stretch and wonderful energy to relax in. I'm very excited!

Yoga Continues to Gain Popularity

In the western world, many classes become simple exercise workouts. Sivananda yoga offers so much more.

In the 6th chapter of the Bhagavad Ghita, which is the most important authority on yoga philosophy, Sri Krishna explains to Arjuna the meaning of Yoga.

"A lamp does not flicker in a place where no wind blows; so it is with a yogi, who controls his mind, intellect and self, being absorbed in the spirit within him.

When the restlessness of the mind, intellect and self is stilled through the practice of Yoga, the yogi by the grace of the spirit within himself finds fulfilment. Then he knows the joy eternal which is beyond the pale of the senses which his reason cannot grasp.

There is nothing higher than this. He who has achieved it, shall not be moved by the greatest sorrow. This is the real meaning of Yoga—a deliverance from contact with pain and sorrow."

Something to work towards.

As usual I've enclosed extra flyers for your friends, family, co-workers etc! If you'd like to reserve your place you can do so by sending a postdated check, dated to the first day of the class. I suggest you send it to the above address a week before the class starts.

Please recycle and save trees. If you would rather not be on my mailing list, that's fine--simply let me know by phone (514) 890-6059 or e-mail info@illuminartyoga.com. Also, please let me know if you have a change of address.

I'm looking forward to seeing you!
