Holiday Greetings!

I hope you have enjoyed the holidays with your family and friends.

Why Do Yoga?

As we move into winter, some of us may have a tendency to hibernate rather than going out in the cold. The question may come up: why bother doing yoga at this time of year?

For an answer, I like this quote by Eric Schiffmann, author of Yoga: the Spirit and Practice of Moving Into Stillness...

"The simple perspective I have come up with, through all the years of practicing yoga and meditation, is that yoga makes you feel good. It’s relaxing. It’s energizing. It’s strengthening. You feel better at the end of a session than before you began, and life runs more smoothly when you maintain a constant discipline than when you don’t.

"Yoga enhances your experience of life. It changes your perspective. You thereby find yourself spontaneously embracing a larger, more accurate conception of who you are and how life works. You start seeing things differently, with less distortion--which results in more peace of mind, better health, more enthusiasm for life, and an ever-growing authentic sense of well-being."

Sound Too Good to be True?

All I know is that from my own experience, sometimes we are not ready for transformation and we resist positive change. About 5 years ago, I gave up yoga for about 2 years and I was generally unhappy. When circumstances led me to leave my job and end the relationship I was in, I started a regular yoga practice again and my life has been on an upward spiral of happiness and fulfillment ever since.

This showed me that life without yoga was a struggle and life with yoga not only makes me feel good, it also makes my life work.

January Classes

You’ll see by the flyers that I’ve added on a third intermediate class Monday nights, as well as beginners classes on Thursday mornings, Sunday afternoons and Tuesday nights. This should allow you to make up missed classes on another night during the 10-week session. Last fall, some classes filled up and many students couldn’t fit in.

You can reserve your place by sending a check postdated to the first date of the class, made out in my name. Mail it to the address at the top of the page and as soon as I receive it, you’ll be guaranteed a place. Please specify which class you will be joining.

Prenatal Yoga

Who do you know who is pregnant? I’ve had positive feed back from the pregnant women I’ve taught and I’m looking forward to teaching a prenatal yoga class.

My classes grow mostly due to your help through sharing your experience with others. I’ve enclosed extra flyers for you to share with your friends and co-workers. Thanks for your support!

Please recycle and save trees. If you would rather not be on my mailing list, that’s fine--simply let me know by phone at (514) 890-6059 or by e-mail to info@illuminartyoga.com Also, please let me know if you have a change of address.

I’m looking forward to seeing you!
